Question by Pulom: What changes should be made in the rules of Ice Hockey to make it as good and as popular as the Field Hockey?
I think the competition between the original Field Hockey and the modified Ice Hockey has increased tremendously in last few years and the Ice Hockey hasn’t been able to match the standards and fame of Field Hockey.
In that case, what do you think the administrators can do to improve Ice Hockey to decrease the gap between the two great games?

Your ideas will be highly appreciated and if possible i will e-mail that to the Ice Hockey Federation.
Regards.

Field hockey is popular? Where do you live? I have never even seen Field Hockey being played or known anyone that played it. Is field hockey televised? If not then I would say Ice Hockey is already more popular.

Colin Abbott is perhaps better known for his world-class softball skills, and that's the reason he gave up playing hockey to become a referee. Abbott, who is from Portugal Cove, had played one season in the Avalon East Hockey League, after a successful …

    Like Deep6 said,

I didn’t even know Field hockey was popular!!!
If you ask me, not one change should be made. Ice hockey is an awesome sport and has a lot of fans!

DEEP6 – i play field hockey, it is televised but it’s more popular over here in England, The Netherlands, Australia, South Africa and especially India

AMY B – you’re right, i’m in the minority when it comes to field hockey and not living in North America, but i only play the sport because there are no local ice hockey teams for me to join

    I ♥ GONCHAR – i don’t know about him, but i do =)

I can see your point Dazzle; but I think most people in the hockey section are in North America and follow ice hockey on this side of the pond.

That being said, I don’t think Heartbreak Kid will find many answers that will help, as most of us don’t identify with field hockey at all.

  6. Freckles needs a new job says:

Dude, seriously. Where do you live? Who seriously follows field hockey? Really, I’m almost as dumbfounded by your question as I am about your apparent obsession with spandex clad wrestlers.

im pretty sure this guy just reads wikipedia all day and asks jackassy questions.

    but to answer your question….

Walk outside of your dwelling and look at the ground. Do you see ice. Probably not, unless you are a Penguin, and I doubt that. If you want Ice Hockey to be more popular, invent skates that work on grass. That would’nt work though, cause then it would be just as ominously gay as Field Hockey.

    Update: A thumbs-down vote….now im pissed……hhaha

  9. Into the Flood Again says:

Tell me when you see a Field Hockey game on TV. Or a field hockey player getting more publicity than an NHL player, then we can talk.

    You’re kidding, right?

  11. Rezheen H says:

  12. ianbell says:

correction-despite the fact that field hockey may be more popular in some areas, ice hockey remains the dominant form of the sport. i would have had far more respect for this question if you hadn’t typed “ice hockey federation”

  13. ,Camisado;; says:

Ice hockey is definately more popular than field hockey. At least in Canada anyways, but that’s understandable, haha.
But it is probably more popular than field hockey in North America for sure. Field hockey isn’t really even on TV.
I try to get people to respect field hockey more other than ice hockey all the time, but most that don’t play it like ice hockey better. I personally love field hockey, it’s my favorite sport. =]
